Awesome, but.....
This is a great RPG and that's saying something because, while I'm a huge RPG fan, I'm usually extremely critical of flash games.
Underneath the humor, there was this awesome story and to support that there were some surprisingly deep characters. Battles went about fluently and though I hate the random encounter system, they were left to a minimum (most of the time) which let me actually (almost) enjoy them. The music fit the scenes in ways I've only seen professionally.
Which isn't to say the game is flawless. At times, I felt that the dungeons got a bit monotonous. There were no puzzles to figure out or anything to spice up the dungeon-crawling. Noted, in the later dungeons there was a bit of key finding and such, but nothing too interesting. I realize that this is a story-based game, but the gameplay still needs to be fun in order to adequately support the story. Simply put, if the gameplay isn't fun, people will get bored despite the enthralling story.
Despite the problems, it was a great game. In the future chapters, just try and mix up the gameplay a little bit. Make one of the dungeons a puzzle. Take a story event and add some quick-time events to it to make it more interesting. Lock more doors and force the player to figure out what he/she needs to do. I expect great things from the Mardek series and I just don't want to see it grow old and monotonous.
Keep up the good work and keep improving it!
